Moments of beauty in our wretched reality....
I read this paragraph in my horoscope and this sentence, "...focus on moments of beauty in our wretched reality."
This sentence comes from a part of today's horoscope. Titled, "Supernatural Grace". I guess if I could be anything, it would be someone of "supernatural grace". That just sounds so....glorious. The visuals in my head of someone who is the epitome of "supernatural grace". Supremely elegant. Just a touch of quirky. A little ethereal. Still approachable. Their presence fills any room without being stifling.
That sounds pretty cool.
A friend told me she thinks I'm, "elegant and gorgeous as fuck..." I nearly cried at that compliment.
On my best days, I'm bumbling along. Well, that's how I see it. And I suppose I should stop. Thats not behaving like my own best friend. Moving on, this paragraph continues with, "You are experimenting with desire, and right now you're able to trust your instincts. ...."
I've been good with my instincts until recently. This goddarn Mercury Retrograde is playing heaps of games with my....game.
Thursday nights, I've been at Tonga Hut Tiki Bar. Why? There's a gathering of ADG (Art Director Guild) folks, other union folks and those of us, like me, who aren't in a union but work, "in the industry". I've been going for a month now and I am so unbelievably grateful that I just said, "fuck it, you better do this thing, girlfriend" to myself and went on that first, fateful Thursday night.
The people there were so welcoming. And are so welcoming. Open. I know the way my work is, I can be booked suddenly at any moment and I hope to the freelance gods, that I can still go on any Thursday night. It brings me joy. And is another reason why I love what I do.
Tomorrow, I'll post some gouache sketches I'm doing up tonight. Meanwhile, here's a piece I'm finishing in gouache, color pencils. Its of "Nighthawks". A movie I fucking love. This is my way of showing the love.
