...again?
I use to have a blog. Many years ago, like a lot of other creatives and when social media wasn't the monster it is now.
A few weeks ago, I rid myself of my old Facebook and Instagram accounts. Instagram, deleted. Facebook however, prefers to make it SO difficult to delete and all you can do is "disable". So, disabled. In their places, I began two new accounts and am laying low. Laying low in social media is antithetic to the whole idea of social media, I know. But here I am.
Laying low.
Because I need to build. Not "rebuild", but BUILD. *Let me say that so many say at some turning point in their lives, say they need to "rebuild" or that they're "rebuilding". Negatory. Why? Because so many have never built their own lives. We all borrow. We all share or copy from others. Just do. Its a rare, rare breed of human who even creates their own path or builds their own life. There use to be "self-made" folks. USE TO. In the 21st Century, those are rare. VERY very, rare.
I know of two women who could, rightfully, be called, "self made". One is one of the best artists on the planet (my opinion, but I'm right), lives in France and the other is a "techno queen" DJ (and human rights advocate and, get this, race car driver). Hmmm, maybe my hero cinematographer, Roger Deakins, is also self-made. I need to do some research and I'll get back with you.
Anyways.
